There was once a very happy family that lived among others in a beautiful town. Then one day Indians attacked the village and took all the children as hostages. Many of the children were sold or given away as slaves to other Indians. One little girl named Daniel and her brother named Taylor were given to the chief of the tribe named Riley. Daniel was only three so he raised her as his own daughter for she was very pretty, but Taylor was ten so he was raised as a slave. Daniel soon forgot many things about her life before she lived with the Indians so Taylor planned to run away with her and get back to their own kind. One night after The chief had fallen asleep Taylor grabbed Daniel and took her out of the tipee with much struggling. He threw her on to a horse that he had stolen and ran made the horse run as fast as it could, but the chief soon woke up and went after them. By that time he ran into the tree branch and his head fell off.

Now Daniel and Taylor live happily in a safe village away from Indians.
